Certification

Certification is an additional option offered to participants, including a project review and the successful completion of a Lean exam at the BRONZE level.  This additional option is available for $400.  The exam will be a four-hour proctored exam that covers 25 questions per module covered during the Lean Boot Camp training.  The project will be in direct alignment for certification entities and will be reviewed by Master Black Belts to ensure it meets the following:

Thank goodness for a relevant training!  I’ve heard of Lean Six Sigma for years, but it always felt like manufacturing examples were the way to learn the method, and then we have to figure out how to apply it to finance.  Here can I just ask my questions about what I do on a daily basis, and my instructor already understands and has real examples to assist me!

Cost

  • Lean Six Sigma Finance Green Belt cost is $3850 per person. 
  • Includes two 4.5 day sessions, separated by 5 weeks to begin project work
  • Maximum of 20 students. 
  • Included are
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt – Finance focused training materials;
    • Access to templates and training guides you can use with your team; and
    • Four hours of post-training project consultation in addition to consultation available during the training sessions.

Certification

Certification is an additional option offered to participants, including a project review and the successful completion of a Lean Six Sigma exam at the Green Belt level.  This additional option is available for $400.  The exam will be a four-hour proctored exam that covers 25 questions per DMAIC phase covered during the Lean Six Sigma Finance training.  The project will be in direct alignment for certification entities and will be reviewed by Master Black Belts to ensure it meets the following:

  1. Team and facilitation skills used to enable cultural adoption 
  2. Continuous process improvement
  3. Application of project methodology 
  4. Business results

Green Belts are leaders who demonstrate strong analytical, leadership and teamwork skills.  They demonstrate a positive attitude and respect for colleagues which encourages others to join in the improvement efforts.  They are influential, as they use both written and verbal communication skills effectively to ensure their projects succeed.

Layla Kashani, MBA Finance

Layla Kashani is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt with certifications in DMAIC, DMADV, DFSS and Train-the-trainer programs from General Electric Co. Layla has been designing continuous improvement programs for companies across many sectors, including: banking, retail, telecommunications, and oil and gas.  Her range to apply LSS within an organisation can be to train employees in the method, to certify Green Belts and Black Belts, and also to run and manage improvement projects directly.

Layla worked in finance within Taco Bell Corporate, PepsiCo, General Electric, and at CNBC/MSNBC/NBC news networks. These corporate exposures to rigorous financial practices is the core of her background to use with clients in other industries.  She has worked with banks in Europe, including SWIFT (financial transaction management), and understands the payment process realm in detail.  Layla applies statistics plus finance to determine probability and impact of a defect or weakness in a process, and using LSS as a method to identify and solve for vulnerabilities is a strength that can be learned and applied at any organisation.

Layla has taught International Project Management, and Leadership in Multinational Organisations to MBA students at the International University of Monaco and makes sure that her courses teach practical and applicable skills for the real world.  A well rounded instructor, with real world finance expertise, professor background, and 15 years of LSS experience make Layla a credible trainer for this program.

Susan Beauchamp, MBA and Engineer

Susan Beauchamp is an experienced Project Manager, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Executive coach and Senior Process Improvement Consultant.  Her experience includes mentoring and leading others to execute hundreds of Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belt projects in corporate, healthcare and government environments.  Susan began her journey with Six Sigma as part of General Electric’s initial wave of Master Black Belts in 1995 and earned certification as a Master Black Belt (MBB) in 1997.  In 2002 she opened her own business to provide process improvement, executive coaching and project management consultation to corporations, government agencies and universities.  Her clients include: General Electric, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, DuPont, and several suppliers to these, over 25 governmental agencies in the District of Columbia, the George Washington University and Villanova University.  Her expertise spans a variety of industries including: Electrical and Chemical Manufacturing; Telecommunications; Corporate: Sourcing, Finance and IT; Government and Healthcare.  

Her finance experience was developed through working with General Electric's Corporate IT, Sourcing and Billing organizations to implement multiple year projects over a ten year period designed to increase transparency, deliver compliant solutions and reduce cycle time and defects in billing processes.  Additionally, she worked with employees at the District of Columbia government to improve payroll, capital budget management and benefit administration processes.  Project examples include:

  • Working with a team to provide detailed transparency on all Corporate IT spend for over $2BB in annual expenditures.
  • Eliminating 75% of invoice transactions in a project to simplify billing detail provided
  • Developing and implementing a global digital process designed to ensure compliance and accountability to meet regulatory, data privacy, tax and banking requirements on a global basis when setting up new billing relationships
  • Streamlining process steps to eliminate 25% of non value adding activity and eliminating manually generated billing data steps through use of value stream analysis and process redesign for all cloud billing
  • Coaching a team who saved $4.6MM annually by increasing the use of Fleet Share vs Agency-owned vehicles
  • Reducing time to complete procurement processes on procurements <$1MM from >165 to <100 days using catalog ordering, better scope writing and connecting purchasers with purchase agents earlier in process
  • Reducing unnecessary overtime by $500K annually in a 911 customer call center
  • Developing a process to close-out capital projects, identifying $3,6 MM in local-budget Capital projects and multiples of this amount in city-wide close out project opportunities

Susan received her BS in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. She earned her Black Belt and Master Black Belt certifications with General Electric and completed her MBA also at Duke University.
